We are working on moving our three weekly newsletters from our old ESP to Eloqua and I was wondering how others are setting up their campaigns for weekly emails. I don't really want to set up a campaign for each issue of each newsletter as that would require 156 campaigns per year (in addition, of course, to every other campaign we set up.)
I'm also thinking that we'll need a separate campaign for each title -- our subscribers can choose to receive one, two, or all three of the titles and trying to sort that out on the campaign canvas seems overly burdensome to me.
My currently thinking is to set up monthly campaigns that would include four of five weeks worth of emails for each title. Or maybe even quarterly campaigns. If we did quarterly, we'd only need 12 campaigns for the whole year. My biggest concern with this method is that we don't want people who subscribe to the newsletter in the middle of a campaign to receive previous issues. We can set up the campaign's segment to keep checking for new subscribers, but if someone subscribes to a newsletter on May 18, say, we don't want them to get the issue that was sent out on May 15. Is there a way to set that up in campaign canvas so that won't happen?
The other concern with doing that way is that we build the newsletters the day of or the day before we send them, so we'd constantly be activating and deactivating the campaign to add the latest email to the canvas. Will this cause any problems, either related to people getting old emails or other problems?
Does anyone have any advice in general about processing multiple weekly newsletters through Eloqua?
