Tracking PDF's

There are some related threads on tracking PDF's, but none (as far as I know) fully answer my questions, and I'd love to get this straight.

We are using Eloqua 10.

We have links to PDF's in several locations:

1) On Eloqua Landing Pages

2) On our site that has Eloqua tracking code

3) In Emails sent from Eloqua

4) In other locations such as emails not sent via Eloqua, or directly linked to from social media sites, etc.

What I'm trying to get it straight is as follows: For each of these four items, how we can make sure people who click on the PDF's are being tracked, so we can create a filter where we can simply setup a criteria "visited websites" and list the PDF that is either in the file storage (img.en25.com) or hosted on our site, and get the number of people who have viewed/downloaded that particular PDF. This is the information I have so far. Any corrections/additions appreciated:

1)  On Eloqua Landing Pages: Use the 'Actual URL' that shows in the asset in the 'File Storage area - no need to use 'Outbound Link Tracking' on this one. If PDF is NOT hosted in the File Storage area, then need to use the 'Outbound Link Tracking' that's explained on Page 7 of the PDF here: http://topliners.eloqua.com/docs/DOC-2404

2) On our site that has Eloqua tracking code: Same as #1.

3) In Emails sent from Eloqua: Use the "Tracked URL" that shows in the asset in the 'File Storage' area.

4) In other locations such as emails not sent via Eloqua, or directly linked to from social media sites, etc: This is the one that really gets me.  What do we do here?

Thanks,

Eytan
